Platinum Full-Ring Radiopaque Marker Band | Permanent Crimp-Fixed Distal Tip Localization
Permanent, High-Contrast Distal Tip Markers That Survive Sterilization and Procedural Use
M4D LLC supplies full-ring platinum marker bands for catheter manufacturers requiring permanent, high-contrast distal tip markers that survive sterilization, shipping, and procedural use without positional shift.
Unlike slip-ring variants, the full-ring design features a controlled crimp geometry that plastically deforms the platinum wall uniformly around the catheter shaft OD, generating a radial interference fit with a retention force verified by tensile pull-off testing per internal M4D test method MTP-007. This permanent mechanical lock ensures the band cannot migrate even under repeated catheter flexion through a 180° bend test mandrel. The platinum alloy (Pt-10%Ir available on request) provides >3,000 HU fluoroscopic contrast, making the band visible under standard interventional C-arm imaging at all angulations.
Each band is placed under a stereo microscope at ≥10× magnification, crimped with a calibrated hex crimp tool to a programmed force, and inspected dimensionally with a calibrated optical comparator — all within M4D’s ISO Class 8 cleanroom, with QCBD QMS documentation at every step.
