Navigating the tortuous anatomy of the intracranial vasculature or distal peripheral vessels demands a micro catheter that simultaneously tracks through sub-2 Fr lumens, transmits pushability across S-curves, and collapses safely under kink load rather than buckling into a crease. The M4D LLC 16-Wire Stainless Steel Braid Micro Catheter is engineered to meet all three requirements in a single shaft construction.
The catheter features a 16-wire 1-over-1 stainless steel braid (304 SS, 0.00075 in. round wire) over a PTFE inner liner (0.6 Fr inner diameter standard, custom ID available), with a reflow-bonded Pebax 35D outer jacket that provides column support proximally transitioning to a Pebax 25D distal segment for atraumatic vessel tracking. Shaft OD is 1.7 Fr (0.022 in.) proximal and 1.5 Fr (0.020 in.) distal, compatible with standard .010 in. guidewires.
The braid is applied on a multi-wire braiding mandrel, reflow-bonded under controlled IR heat profile, mandrel-pulled under tension to prevent ovalization, and the distal tip is UV-adhesive finished (365 nm, 10-second cure, Dymax 1128 equivalent) with a platinum slip-ring marker band for fluoroscopic guidance. Assembly is performed entirely under stereo microscope by M4D technicians in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom. IQ/OQ/PQ validation documentation is available for transfer to customer's design history file (DHF).
